There’s a reason that the rhinoplasty is one of the most common facial plastic surgery procedures in Orange County. This cosmetic surgery is designed to improve the appearance of the nose, which is the focal feature on the face. The shape, size and structure of the nose can have a significant impact on a person’s face, and many people want to improve their nose through cosmetic surgery.

Rhinoplasty Techniques

Newport Beach patients who are interested in this nose surgery procedure should be aware of the techniques that are used by expert cosmetic surgeons, including Dr. Kevin Sadati. The two techniques that are used for the rhinoplasty are the closed approach or the open approach.

I feel it is essential for my patients to be educated about the rhinoplasty procedure prior to having the operation performed,” said Dr. Kevin Sadati. “This allows them to understand what will take place during the surgery, and also have realistic expectations for the results that they will receive.

The open approach to rhinoplasty is a technique that allows the surgeon to operate on the nose from the outside of the structure. During this procedure, an incision is made along the columella, and the facial skin is pulled away from the nose. When expert adjustments to the nasal structure are required, this procedure is the best option as it provides the surgeon with the best vantage point for the surgery. There is minimal scarring associated with this procedure, but it fades significantly with time.

The closed approach is the technique that allows the surgeon to make corrections from the inside of the nasal cavity. The incision is made inside the passageway of the nose, and all work is completed internally. This technique can limit the results that the surgeon can achieve, and it is typically recommended for patients who want to remove a bump on the nasal bridge or refine the dorsum. There is no scarring associated with this procedure.

During the consultation process, I help my patients to understand why I chose the closed or open approach. I believe this is the best way to prepare them for facial plastic surgery,” said Dr. Kevin Sadati.
